Pasadena – Nature’s Eden

When we speak of Pasadena, it is with unbridled reverence and awe. Though no one in the Zombie media family has properly visited Pasadena as a tourist or even as a pedestrian, many of us have driven through its lushly woven tapestry (what?) of Americana while driving to the Rose Bowl for USC championships, and, in the case of our Editor, Adam, a Bon Jovi concert.
We all know that Pasadena’s main drag is a street called Colorado, either because the street itself is colored red or because some asshole drove through Santa Monica and stole the street name. We also know from our vehicular observations that the denizens of Pasadena are not wanting for dining, enjoying a P.F. Changs, a Hooters restaurant, and a Ritz-Carlton that, brand standards dictating, must contain a 3-meal sit down restaurant. My internet is currently not working, so the restaurant’s name continues to elude us.
What else do we know about Pasadena, if not through observation, then through lore? According to the Beach Boys, it is where diminutive geriatric women reside. It is home to the New Year’s day tradition, the Tournament of Roses. Without having attended this event, I am capable of inferring from the name that this is some sort of floral bloodsport in which thorny warriors fight to the death to the pleasure of people who can’t afford Rose Bowl tickets. Sadly, even the victors in the tournament of roses die within a week of tournament’s end, some say from grief, some say from being pruned.
Located NNE of downtown at the intersection of the 110 and 134 Freeways, Pasadena continues to be destination number one for those families that want the expense and inconvenience of big city living without the excitement or culture. It merits noting that there are no theme parks in Pasadena. Pasadena: Like every other city, but near Los Angeles!

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

Great artical, I unfortunately had some problems printing this artcle out, The print formating looks a little screwed over, something you might want to look into.
