Denis Leary’s New Book, “Why We Suck” Does NOT Beat Around The Bush

By Adam Albright-Hanna

In the prologue of “Suck,” Mr. Leary shocks the reader (not for the last time), with this strange request: “put the book down. Do not buy it.”

I’m sure the reader will agree this is the opposite of what you would think an author would like one to do, but Mr. Leary insists on this.

Why would an author risk such a crazy thing?

He sums it up thusly:

“You are going to be insulted.”

Ha! What gall this man has, yet he continues.

Read on:

“If you are a woman, you will soon be livid.”

“If you are a man, you are going to be filled with rage.”

And I tell you, he is not kidding. Everyone is a target in this book. Everyone.

Remember that woman who poured coffee herself then sued McDonald’s for like $80 milllion? Like 20 years ago? You think he lets her off the hook? No, sir. He takes her to task, let me tell you. In fact, he points out, how stupid she is.

What about Paris Hilton? You’d probably think that Mr. Leary would be too timid to take on such a revered icon. Nope. Wrong again. He calls her stream of boyfriends himbos (not a typo, a new word Leary created, combing “him” and “bimbo”.)

I don’t know how he does it – he just says it like it is. No beating around the bush for this guy. Check this out:

“Misogynistic means you hate women – it doesn’t mean you hate women because you are trying to tell them what you do not want to hear.”

Wise words indeed, but then look what he adds (spoiler alert!, you may be offended):

“Like yes, your ass does look fat.”

Whoa! I wouldn’t want to be in his house tonight! Man, this guy just says what we’re all thinking, but are just too afraid to say.

Here is just a quick list of other targets Mr. Leary has securely in his sites: Roger Daltrey, George Bush, Danica Patrick, cats, Phil Mickelson, fat kids, Lindsay Lohan,  Starbucks, and Cybill Shepherd!

No sacred cow is safe. (In fact, he turns that cow into a hamburger. Metaphorically, of course. )

I recommend buying this book before it gets banned.

How can someone get away with such unfiltered, shocking honesty?!?
